The video above is the trailer for the “A Man Named Pearl” documentary. I’ve seen two versions of this documentary; one on HGTV and one on Super Soul Sunday, on OWN.
The documentary is about Pearl Fryar, a self-taught African-American topiary artist, whose topiary garden, located in one of the poorest counties in the south, attracts visitors from all over the world.
It is very inspirational, and is worth watching, even if you don’t have an interest in gardening or plants.
The full documentary is available on the internet, though the last time I checked it was not free. It is also available to view on YouTube for a fee.
Below, is a 2018 feature on Mr Fryar and his garden. Mr Fryar recently turned 78.
